Weah Refutes Media Report
Says He Did Not Demand Any Apology

Liberia's foremost soccer star, King George Manneh Weah, says negative media campaign against him will not change not prevent him from going for peace.

The soccer star made the comments yesterday in reaction to an assertion in the media recently that he is demanding an apology from the President of Liberia, Dr. Charles Ghankay Taylor.

Weah said the story has no iota of truth and might have had a catching agenda. He said maybe the media lacks comprehension of the interview. King Weah said he told the interviewer that if anyone needs to render apology, those who carried negative propaganda about him to President Taylor should instead be the ones to do so.

Weah said if the media had problem with the interview he granted to "Webmaster", it should have contacted him for clarification, which would have given much credit for a balanced reporting.

King George said he will remain committed to the latest stance of working along and contributing his quota for the development of football in the country.

"It is my ardent hope that all those responsible for training journalists or protecting the image of the profession act accordingly, as many untrained journalists' attitude may reduce same to public ridicule.

Weah extrends peace to all Liberians both home and abroad.
