May 28, 2004

As the national soccer team the Lone Star prepares for its international assignment against the Eagle of Mali in the qualifying round of the African Cup of Nation, the Liberian semi professional player who is based in the United States of America, Godfrey Miller, says he was not invited for the pending match against Mali scheduled for the 6 of June in Monrovia.

Player Miller told The Analyst on Tuesday that his coming to the country was due to his long absence as a result of the fourteen years of civil war.

He said he returned mainly to meet his relatives as well as to contribute his quota in any way in the reconstruction of the country.

The Liberian semi professional player who left the country in the early 90's at the age of 15 traveled to Sierra Leone, the United States, and Germany before returning to the US where he is now playing college soccer while pursuing higher education.

The Liberia soccer star who is presently training with the national team also said that he is willing to play for the team if he is officially invited by the technical staff.

The coming of the Liberian semi professional player without invitation to join the team in its practice section has already been welcomed by Lone Star Technical Director, Kadala Kromah.

According to him, the coming of the midfielder was a clear indication that he is willing to play for his country without any condition attached to it.
