Midfielder Marvin Quijano Waived to Make Room for Shannon

DENVER (Friday, July 26, 2002) - The Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer have acquired forward Musa Shannon off waivers, it was announced today by General Manager Dan Counce. To make room on the 18-player senior roster the Rapids waived midfielder Marvin Quijano.

Shannon, 26, has already joined the team and will be available for selection when the Rapids meet the Dallas Burn at 7:00 p.m. at INVESCO Field on Saturday.

A native of Monrovia, Liberia, the 6-foot, 170-pound Shannon played three seasons with the Tampa Bay Mutiny, where he amassed 20 goals and seven assists (47 points) in 50 games played and 30 starts.

Quijano, 21, played in six games (no starts, 77 minutes) and recorded his lone point for the Rapids when he assisted on the game-winning goal on overtime against the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Rose Bowl on June 1. Quijano was originally acquired by the Rapids off waivers from the Galaxy on April 12, 2002.
