A steward defender who uses both aggression
and acute bated breath to outshine his opponents, Murphy Nagbe
represents a careful demeanor of a full defender.
Having harvested a worth of exposure with
the senior national team of Liberia on their way to the 2002 African
Nations Cup, Murphy can line-up either as a defender or a midfielder.
At the set pieces, he is brilliant because
of his tactical heading skills and uses his well built made-up as a
shield to prevent his pursuers from getting the floating ball.
Murphy does possess an ideal ball handling panache and
passes well, which are indicatives of an excellent player. As one of
George Weah’s favorite defenders, he played in a few test matches in
the Ivory Coast before the 2002 African Nations Cup. And was a member
of the team that played in an International friendly with the Red
Elevens in Tunis, Tunisia.
Because of his age and naïveté he didn’t made the
selection for 2002 African Nations Cup, as there were other
experienced players. But soon made his impart well felt in Liberia’s
first ANC 2004 Qualifiers against Guinea in September of 2002.
