The President, officials and
playing body of the Alliance FC has expressed shock and dismay over rumors
in some media reports of match fixing after the defeat of Mighty Barrolle by
the Alliance FC, 5-0.
A release issued yesterday
quoted the Alliance FC President that such allegation does not go along with
the spirit of sportsmanship which is aimed at strengthening and unifying the
human body. Adding, "this is the reason for which the team joined others in
the national league. Hence, in sport, there should be no room for the
business of buying and selling."
The Alliance FC boss has assured the
public that the team is in the business of promoting the youths of Liberia
and in investing substantially in training and educating to develop its team
to uplift the standard of football in Liberia.
For clarity, Alliance is asking the local
television stations to replay the entire game for the public to view and
judge for themselves.
The Alliance boss has thanked the referee and LFA
officials for ably handling the game, and also hail their many fans and
supporters for the support given the team. He assured them of victories at
all times as the team prepares for the knockout and Big Eight leagues.
It can be recalled Alliance FC dragged Mighty
Barrolle 5-0 over the weekend to book one of the places in their group for
the new premier league.
The victory came as no surprise to Alliance
FC fans and supporters because Barrolle was also beaten 3-2 in the first
phase of the league by Alliance. "The second defeat shows that Barrolle just
can play Alliance FC," a fan remarked last Sunday after the match |
