Kaba
Barred From Referees Elections
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The President of the Liberia Football Referees Association (LIFRA),
Mr. S. Weaka Peters has declared the former Chief Referee of Liberia,
Idrissa Kaba barred from the 2006 elections of the association.
Mr. Peters, during a press conference on Tuesday, alleged that Mr.
Kaba has refused to submit himself for an audit that was to have been
conducted by the Treasurer of the Liberia Football Association (LFA),
Mr. Joseph Koon as far as 2004.
“We will not allow Kaba and his men to partake in the elections since
they refused to be audited,” said Mr. Peters.
The LIFRA President emphasized that Mr. Kaba would not contest in any
elections of the association until he accepts to be audited.
He claimed that the LFA is aware about the developments regarding
alleged financial malpractice exhibited by Mr. Kaba while serving as
Chief Referee as all communications have been delivered to the
governing body of local football.
In his reaction on the Star Radio on Tuesday, the accused Kaba
rejected the allegations and demanded a proof at the forthcoming
Congress of LIFRA.
He termed the allegations as misinformation and argued that he is
still a contestant for the post of president of LIFRA.
The elections of LIFRA are scheduled to climax the 2006 Congress of
LIFRA, scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2006 with Kaba seeking the
presidency against his former deputy, Attorney Sylvester D. Rennie. |
