The first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Liberia, Lone Star, Nathaniel Sherman, who plies his trade with Barrack Young Controller in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) national league, was involved in an accident and will not participate in the pending Liberia’s crucial clash with Tunisia in the second match of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on September 5, 2015 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
According to authorities of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), the player, while communicating on his cell phone, slammed into a transparent glass at the hotel where the national team of Liberia is camping, thereby sustaining serious facial injury.
In an interview with LFA President, Musa Bility, he told reporters that the goalkeeper is in hospital and will not feature in the match with Tunisia this Saturday.
This means Liberia’s Lone Star coach, James Salinsa Debbah will look up to Saylee Swen for Saturday crucial match against Tunisia.
Saylee is an experienced goaltender who plies his trade with local side, LPRC Oilers.
He made his debut late 2003 with the senior national team of Liberia and later went on to collect more than 10 senior national team caps with the last being with a 4-1 defeat against Rwanda.
Meanwhile, an insider of the LFA informed this paper that JFK authorities refused to treat the national team goalkeeper unless payment was done.
Our source said that national team caretaker had to run back on bike to have money available for the treatment of goalkeeper Nathaniel Sherman.
