Grandpa’ Forkey Doe Wins Golden Boot

By Roland Mulbah

Inform Liberian striker of the moment, Francis ‘Grandpa’ Forkey Doe, who plies his trade in the Malaysian Premiership with NS Matrix, has won the Malaysian Premier League Golden Boot (top goal scorer).

The striker, who is the best Liberian striker of the moment, rattled the net 17 times to clinch the top rated award for the second time after previously winning the award in 2012.

It can be recalled that Grandpa won the joint top Golden Boot last year with another Malaysian Premiership outfit.

The goal customer, who is also Vice captain for NS matrix, has dedicated the award to all Liberians and his many fans around the world.
“I dedicated this great achievement to all Liberians and my many fans around the world that supported and continue to support me in my football career,” the goal getter noted.

At the same time, Forkey Doe says he will return home with his awards and present them to the Liberian people.

At a well-organized ceremony, Grandpa said he will present the awards to the LFA through its President, Mr. Musa Hassan Bility and the Ministry of Youth and Sports through its hard working Minister, Lenn Eugene Nagbe.

Forkey Doe is one of several foreign based players invited by Liberia’s Lone Star coach, James Salinsa Debbah for the crucial 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier encounter against Tunisia on September 5, 2015 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.

The striker was overlooked by the technical staff of the national team for the opening encounter of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in June against the Sparrow Hawks in the match the Debbah led technical lost 2-1 after taking the lead in the first half after a fantastic goal from informed striker, William Jebor.

The act of goal scoring is quite a very difficult one and it takes precision, bravery, cool headedness, concentration and composure to be a classic finisher. There are some however whose such act comes naturally, and it seems Francis ‘Grand’ Forkey Doe is just one of them. The net buster seems to be hungry for stardom and he is endowed with aerial prowess and is a good customer in front goal.
