Lone Star Ready for International Friendly

…As Caf Approves Morocco/Liberia Match

BY Augustus Auggie Audekina-Doe

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the request from Morocco and Liberia for an international friendly.

CAF has informed the two countries that it has no objection on the playing of the match since it is being organized in conformity with FIFA Governing Regulations.

The CAF Communication was signed by Maryse Namour of the Competitions Department of the African football body.

A communication sent to the Secretary Generals of the Federation Royale Marocaine de Football and the Liberia Football Association dated 21 August 2016 gave the go ahead to the two countries.

“We have received the application form for organization from Federation Royale Moroccan de Football as well as participation request form from Liberia to play friendly match with Morocco (A) versus Liberia (A) on match scheduled to be played at Stade Municipal de Kentra, Morocco on August 31, 2016.

Already, a total of 32 local bases plus three oversea players have intensified training sessions ahead of their away fixture to Tunisia September 3.

The senior national soccer team started preparations early last week ahead of its crunch encounter and those call-ups for the training sessions include: Tommy Songo, Emmanuel Deanneh, James Gally, Alpha Jalloh, and Sam Doegbee all goalkeepers. Others are: Kermu Kamara, Raymond Fransiah, Hilton Varney, Garleo Anderson, Richard Lloyd, Joseph Broh, Trokon Zeon and Solomon Grimes.

Sunnyboy Dolo, Titus Cooper, Chancy Freeman, John Sahe Lebbie, Mark Paye, Kesseley Kamara, Prince Saydee, Christopher Jackson, Van-Dave Harmon, Kpah Sharman, Julius Woto, Saah Nyumah, Malvin Blapoh and Fallah Sheriff are all on the list.

The build-up will see the technical team figure out potential players that will team-up with the foreign-based players who are expected to be invited for the showpiece.

Meanwhile, the local national team continues preparation for the Morocco friendly and the Tunisia match.

On Sunday after days of practice and tactical drills at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium the team traveled to Buchanan where to face the Grand Bassa County team but heavy rain fall disrupted the match.

The National Team (Lone Star) was in the lead by a 1-0 at the Doris Williams Stadium.
