Top Liberian talents that could follow in Weah’s footsteps

By Staff Reporter

Liberia have a strong footballing history and the future looks bright with young up and coming talent playing in Europe.

Here, we take a look at Liberia’s former legend and the new wave of players looking to follow in George Weah’s footsteps.

George Weah

The former AC Milan hitman remains Liberia’s premium football export and one of the finest footballers of his generation.

In his career, he lifted five league titles in various different countries and was named the first, and so far, only African Ballon d'Or winner.

His work-rate, as well as his physical and athletic attributes, combined with his finishing, technical ability, creativity and skill saw him dominate.

However, Liberia has since failed to produced real elite top talent.

Iñaki Williams

The talented winger is one of the hottest young talents in La Liga and plies his trade with Athletic Bilbao. With La Liga about to kick-off, be sure to take advantage of top tips from Coral's veteran tipsters to maximise your winnings on your potential punts with great football tips.

The President of the Liberia Football Association, Musa Bility, has met with the winger and discussed a possible switch to Liberia after the player appeared in a friendly for the Spanish national side.

Williams has a Liberian mother and could play for the nation so long as he doesn’t make a competitive appearance for Spain.

Vajebah Sakor

Sakor was born in Liberia, but moved to Norway at a young age and has played for Norway at U15, U16, U17, U18, and most recently at the U19 level.

Owned by Juventus, Sakor surely has a bright future ahead of him and at just 20 years-of-age, could develop into a top talent.

After months of talks, the negotiation seems to be coming to an end, with Liberia having a superb chance of landing the youngster.

Tonia Tisdell

Born in Monrovia, Tisdell is another great hope playing in Europe. The Osmanlispor left winger has already committed his future to Liberia and is already a seasoned campaigner at club level.

Tisdell will be again loaned out this season to top-flight new boys Karabukspor, and will attempt to continue his fine form in Turkey.

His first senior national team goal came on September 8th, 2012 in his home city against Nigeria.
