Monrovia-The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has announced that Lone Star will play Morocco in an international friendly on August 31.
According to the LFA, the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) has confirmed the friendly encounter with Liberia and the match will take place on August 31, at the Kenitra Stadium in the commercial hub of Casablanca.
LFA reportedly reached a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MCsport, organizer of Liberia reported friendly with Morocco, which will also see Lone Star hold a five-day training camp in the North African country.
The MOU calls for Liberia to feature 90 percent of its team that will face the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on September 3 in Tunis.
The LFA said, Mcsport will make available a 50-seated bus, training facility, provide a luxurious hotel and accommodation for a 32-man delegation.
LFA would shoulder air tickets and all other resources for the delegation, including local and foreign-based players.
But it now appears that the information provided by the local football house is another publicity stunt.
There is no mention of Liberia friendly with the Atlas Lions on the official website of the Moroccans FA. Instead, the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football has announced that the Atlas Lions will face Albania in an international friendly on August 31, 2016; the same date the LFA said Liberia would play Morocco in an international friendly.
Morocco said the friendly with Albania is part of its preparation for the 2018 Russia - World Cup qualifiers. The Atlas Lions are paired against Gabon, Mali and the Ivory Coast in Group C.
The referees and venue for the match was not revealed at the time the Moroccan FA made the pronouncement on July 27, 2016.
Morocco is ranked 53 in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola World ranking, while Albania is seated 37.
