Why Leave Keita Out?
Credible report from the camp of the senior national football team of Liberia says the country international midfielder Alseny Ochacha Keita has been left out of the squad poised to play Tunisia.
The senior national team of Liberia, the Lonestar is expected to host Group A leaders Tunisia as part of the qualifier campaign in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) on September 5.
Though Lonestar head coach James Debbah is yet to public his foreign based payers, but a source from both the Liberia football Association and the camp of the national team has hinted sports writers that the France based midfielder has been omitted from the squad.
Reports also had it that the Lonestar boss has given his final list of players to the FA.
Regarded by football pundits in and out of Liberia as the most disciplined and committed midfielder, Alseny Ochacha Keita exclusion from the Lonestar squad against Tunisia has sparked debates and raised the eye-brows of citizens of the country.
Alseny Keita who plays for 3rd division club Es Viry Chatillon in France; the club that produced the famous Thierry Henry is been rated as Liberia’s most experienced, mature and consistent defensive midfielder.
Some say he has the ability to lead the Lonestar midfield against Tunisia especially playing alongside Theo weeks or a combination of any versatile midfielder, taking cue from the Liberia-Togo game in Lome when Liberia’s midfield seemed weak and no longer holding in the second quarter of the match.
Alseny Keita played over 80% of his team games last season.
He has vast European experienced having played in many European countries including Belgium and Switzerland.
