Coach Debbah Calls 24 Players For Togo Clash

Liberia’s Lone Star head coach, James Salinsa Debbah has called 24 players for Liberia’s crucial clash with the Sparrow Hawks of Togo slated for June 5, 2016 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Former CSKA Moscow winger, Sekou Jabateh Oliseh, who recently won the Romanian championship with topflight outfit Astra Giurgiu and Malaysian Super League leading goal scorer of the moment, Francis ‘Grandpa’ Forkey Doe of Felda United are Included in the squad.
Youngster Dauda Bortu of Norway, who made his senor national team debut against Djibouti in March of this year is maintaining his position on the list, while Tonia Tisdell of Turkey, who last played for the Lone Star in a 3-0 away defeat to the Elephants of Ivory Coast and Patrick Nyema Gehardt, who is said to be in search of a new club after leaving Malaysia are making his return to the national team.
Dulee Johnson of Norway, Patrick ‘Ronaldinho’ Wleh of Malaysia, Omega Roberts of Serbia, Melvin George of Myanmar and Marcus Marcauley of Jordan who were members of the previous list are all dropped.
As for the local players, Barrack Young Controller (BYC) of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) first division dominates the six local players list with Hilton Varney and Alvin Macconough maintaining their places on the list, while FC Fassell goalkeeper Sampson Giddings is dropped for BYC goalkeeper Mulbah Urey who is making his return after a protracted period on the sideline.
The remaining local players are Lone Star number one goalkeeper Tommy Songo of LISCR FC, Ma Watta Watanga Goalkeeper Gallay James and LPRC Oilers defender Trokon Zeon complete the local players list.
There are 18 foreign based and six local players making the total of 24 players for the crunch duel against the Sparrow Hawks of Togo.
An insider of the LFA hinted this paper that invitations for the foreign based players have been sent to their respective clubs and they will start arriving at the end of May for the do or die battle on June 5.
Liberia needs to collect the maximum three points against Togo to stand a chance of qualifying to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Liberia is topping group ‘A’ with nine points, while Tunisia and Togo follow with seven points each.
