WAFU Hosts Tournament in Honor of President Sirleaf

THURSDAY, MARCH 3, 2016: Liberia has been selected to host this year’s West African Football Union Nations Tournament known as the WAFU Cup. This year’s WAFU Cup which will be held in Liberia is in honor of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
According to a release from the LFA, the General Assembly of the West African Football Union (WAFU) held on February 17, 2016 in Dakar, Senegal; unanimously agreed to hold its annual football tournament in honor of President Sirleaf as a tribute to her excellent leadership in Africa.
The tournament will kick off in Monrovia on October 29, the birthday of the Liberian President and will bring together all 16 member nations.
LFA President Musa Bility who is also 1st Vice President of WAFU said he is glad that his request for WAFU to play the tournament in honor of President Sirleaf was accepted and assured the country is ready to host the 16 nation’s event.
Mr.Bility said all the technical, materail and financial details are being worked on between the LFA and the WAFU Secretariat for a successful hosting the tournament.
