LFA Announces Delay in League Kickoff
MONROVIA, December 18, 2015: The Liberia Football Association says its 2015/2016 league season will not kickoff as planned this weekend.
According to a release from the local football house, the delay is due to ongoing LFA Appeal Board hearings into complaints filed by a group of disqualified clubs.
Several clubs including Invincible Eleven and NPA Anchors appealed the FA’s First Instant Board decision to deny them participation in the upcoming national league.
The first Instant Board suspended the clubs for not meeting the requirements set forth to qualify clubs for participation in the league.
The LFA release quotes the committee’s chairman Ansu Dulleh as saying the action to deregister the clubs was taken based on rules and regulations set by FIFA to qualify clubs participating in leagues in its member associations.
Mr.Dulleh said an official memorandum is being sent to all clubs informing them about the delay in the start of the league season.
The Chairman of the LFA Competition said the clubs need to be given one week notice before the kick off of the league.
He assured that once his committee receives the formal report from the Appeal Board, a new date for the commencement of the national league will be announced.
Clubs who appealed the FA’s Instant Board decision include Invincible Eleven, NPA-Anchors and Holders FC in the first division, while the second division clubs include Small Town FC, Club Breweries and Mighty Blue Angels.
