Liberia Lost 1 -0 to CIV

Monrovia-Liberia lose 0-1 in the first leg of a world cup qualifying match against Africa Champions, Ivory Coast.

African champions Ivory Coast were made to work hard for their 1-0 win over hosts Liberia in Monrovia.

The Elephants were playing without key striker Wilfried Bony, who is injured, and so it fell to Belgium-based Gohi Cyriac to score the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time.

The second leg is away on November 17 in Abidjan

The late goal in the first half led to the loss by the boys in Red white and Blue.

The 1st half was marked by the dominating play of the Ivoirians. Liberia could not maintain possessions.

In the 2nd half the game changed, when the Loneststars started chasing the match.

Missed chances by the Liberian side and technical defending from the Elephants proved to be a tough task to get a draw at home.

Liberia goes on the road needing to score 2 goals in a win in Abidjan on Tuesday to advance.
