Jebor, And Others In Town To Face Ivory Coast

By Sylvester Worwee

Lone Star ‘wonder boy’ William Jebor jetted in late yesterday evening to join Coach Debbah’s squad ahead of Liberia crucial World Cup qualifier with the Elephants of Ivory Coast on Friday, November 13.

Jebor, who plays in the Spanish Segunda division with SD Ponferradina, on loan from Portuguese club Rio Ave FC, arrived in the country accompanied by national team teammate Dirkir Glay, currently unattached after South African club, Black Aces terminated his contract.

Upon arrival, the duo immediately proceeded to the Executive Lodge Hotel, where Lone Star is camped ahead of Friday’s encounter.

The SD Ponferradina striker made history by becoming the first Liberian footballer to score hat-trick in a competitive away match. Jebor’s hat-trick in Liberia 3-1 wins away in Guinea-Bissau in the first preliminary round setup Lone Star clash with the reigning African champions.

Jobor, who celebrated his 24th birthday yesterday, is joint top goalscorer with Nigerian Moussa Maâzou in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, having scored from the spot in Lone star 1-1 home draw with the Jurtus in the first leg.

Also in town for the big match is Patrick “Ronaldinho” Wleh of PKNS F.C. in the Malaysia Premier League. Wleh is making his Lone Star debut under Coach Debbah and is expected to partner with Jebor in Liberia’s attack against the Ivoirians.

The onetime “miracle man” also called up skillful Tonell Tisdell of Osmanlıspor in the Turkish top flight and aging Alseny Keita of French amateur club side, Chatillon Entente Sportive for the tricky task against the champions of Africa.

Lone Star goes into Friday match seeking for it first win against the Elephants at senior level. Liberia best result against The Ivory Coast in 13 meetings is draw. The Ivoirians has recorded 10 wins, while Lone star recorded 3 draws.
