Man City striker Bony set to join up with Ivory Coast despite latest injury
Manuel Pellegrini confirms the striker could still join up with his international squad to assess his hamstring injury
Wilfried Bony could still join up with the Ivory Coast despite suffering a hamstring injury in Manchester City’s goalless draw with Aston Villa.
The striker limped off after just 25 minutes at Villa Park and is set to undergo scans on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.
Manuel Pellegrini does not expect him to be able to take part in his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Liberia, but the City manager revealed that he is still likely to meet up with the rest of the Ivory Coast squad.
The Chilean said: “It is difficult to know at this moment how serious his hamstring injury is.
“We will see tomorrow.
“I don’t know - maybe he will have to go and join up with Ivory Coast.
“His country must review the injury. But I don’t think he will be able to play and he will return to Manchester.”
