The national team of Liberia returned home on Friday to a rousing welcome, following the Lone Star astonishing 3-1 away win over Guinea-Bissau in the second leg preliminary round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Having drawn the first leg 1-1 in Monrovia on October 8, the National Team progressed to the next stage of the qualification series on a 4-2 aggregate, though pairing Liberia against Africa’s reigning champions, The Ivory Coast in the second preliminary round.
The winner between the two sides over the home-and-away tie qualifies to the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia - qualifiers. The first leg comes on November 11, 2015 in Monrovia with the return fixture taking place between November 12 and 17, 2015 in The Ivory Coast.
To encourage the team dig into its arsenal, the Liberia Football Association has promised a massive US$ 15, 000 handsome reward per player should Lone Star pass The Ivory Coast and qualify into the group stage.
LFA president Musa Bility has promised US$ 5, 000 per player should James Debbah side beat the Elephants of The Ivory Coast at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia on November 11.
The flamboyant LFA boss further promised US$ 10, 000 per player should the Lone Star come out with a flying color in the reverse fixture.
Prior to national team return fixture in Bissau, the LFA boss promised to pay each player US$ 3, 000 should the team win against the Djustus of Guinea Bissau. However, the big bonus promised by the Liberian football chief is still being processed by Liberia’s Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) nearly one week after the team's victory.
