Marcus Macauley confident of Lonestar victory

Liberia international midfielder Marcus Maccauley said he is confident the Lone Star will upset Guinea Bissau in their 2018 FIFAWorld Cup qualifier fixture on October 8 in Monrovia.

Marcus Maccauley believes Liberia can cause the damage to Guinea Bissau and make the fans to smile again on Thursday, October 8 in the opener of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier.

The Lone Star defeated Tunisia 1-0 in Monrovia about a month ago and the Jordan-based playmaker said they are going in the encounter with renew potency knowing a victory would means a lot for their world cup campaign.

“Well I think we will be successful because I believe and trust my team mates,” the Al Ahli SC midfielder confirmed this while addressing members of the press after lonestar training session at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Tuesday evening.

He also made it known that he knows nothing about the Guinea Bissau team except for their poor result he read about in their recent African Nations Cup qualifying campaign.

When ask as to whether he thinks the absence of towering Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh who may lightly miss the match due to injury may affects the squad, the fast attacking Lone Star midfielder responded, “Yes it may affect the team somehow because he’s a good player and always willing to work hard for his country and the team. But with God almighty we will make it, he concluded.

Marcus has been in last and present season for Al Ahli in the Jordan topflight league.He has been a creator of goal links for Al Ahli strikers and scoring goals himself.

Though not regular on the senior national team , Marcus Macauley has been very influential in games he participated in. With 15 senior team appearances , Marcus has three goals to his name. He will be remember for his lone goal away at Iraq that gave Liberia a 1-0 win in May 2013.
