Caf hands Guinea-Bissau coach Paulo Torres four-match ban

Guinea-Bissau coach Paulo Torres has been banned for the rest of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for abusing a referee.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) found Torres guilty of using "offensive language and insults towards the referee."

The incident happened during a goalless draw against Zambia in June.

Torres will miss home and away ties against Kenya in March next year and then games against Congo and Zambia.

The Confederation of African Football's latest Disciplinary Committee issued fines totalling US$195,000

The draw for Guinea-Bissau left them bottom of Group E with a single point, only the pool winners are guaranteed a place at the 2017 finals in Gabon.

However the ban from Caf does not include the 2018 World Cup qualifiers leaving Torres free to lead the team against Liberia in the first round.

Guinea-Bissau travel to face Liberia on 8 October with the return leg five days later.

Caf's Disciplinary Committee handed out several other sanctions  when they met on 20 September.

The bans include a six-match one for Mourad Delhoum of African Champion Entente Setif, who spat at Diego Garzitto coach of the Sudanese side Al Merreikh.

The incident came as the Algerian side lost 2-0 in Sudan in August.

Mali's team doctor, Fadiougou Keita, will miss four African Nations Championship (CHAN) matches after he "physically attacked Guinea Bissau players."

Keita's attack happened as Mali beat Guinea Bissau 3-1 in the second leg of the 2016 CHAN qualifier in July.

The Malians won the tie 4-2 on aggregate and will now face Mauritania over two legs in October for a place in next year's finals in Rwanda.
