WEDNESDAY, February 15, 2017: The Liberia Football Association has commended Liberia’s representatives to this year’s CAF Club Competitions for the show of brilliance last weekend.
The LFA in a release said the victories by the two clubs were a testament of the growth football was experiencing on the local scene.
The release said the LFA was also excited that its technical support to the clubs landed of fertile grounds.
LFA President Musa Hassan Bility is excited by the performances of the two clubs and hopes they could advance to the next round of the competition as they depart for their respective away matches.
The LFA President commended President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberian public for the moral and financial support to the local clubs.
Liberia’s two representatives on the weekend of February 10 to 12, 2017 recoded back to back home wins for the first time in recent continental club football history.
Monrovia Club Breweries and league champions Barrack Young Controllers were winners in the first leg preliminary rounds match of their respective CAF Club Competitions.
Breweries beat Algeria’s JS Kabylie 3-0 while BYC pinned Mali’s Stade Malien 1-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
Barrack Young Controllers is playing in the Total CAF Champions’ league while Monrovia Club Breweries is featuring in the CAF Confederation Cup
