The Liberia Under-20 skipper has revealed his side will go on to clinch the FA Cup title, and has also said he is delighted that the Club has achieved so much under his captaincy.
Melvin Blapoh said Monrovia Club Breweries are unstoppable, bragging they will win this season Liberia Football Association (LFA) Knockout Championship no matter what and no matter who they meet in the final.
Speaking after the Bushrod Islanders brushed out First Division Giant LISCR FC 3-1 to reach the Knockout Final, the Breweries’ machine-man said this season is his side time to wear silverware, declaring they are not leaving any stone unturned.
The defensive midfielder also expressed delight over the team achievement this season, alluding it to the commitment of the players and innovation of former Head Coach, now Technical Director Francis Sarploh.
Breweries clinched the Second Division Championship recently and proved too strong for LISCR on Wednesday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) thus reaching the final of the FA cup for the second successive time. They will battle Mighty Barrolle on July 31 at the same venue.
“Let me first of all be grateful that Club Beer have archived so much under my captaincy”, Blapoh said.
The Midfielder further revealed that he almost left the club after they were demoted, but was encouraged to stay despite the huge transfer temptation that came this way.
“I almost left the team after we were relegated, because too many clubs came running after me, but they football is run in this country.
“I decided to remain at my club, because no team could offer me much more than what Club Beer is doing and eve they were to offer much, it still may not have reach a substantive amount, so I made up my mind to stay and today we have qualified and are in FA Cup final, I am really happy,” an overjoyed Blapoh told INSIGHT SPORT in an exclusive interview.
“We will do everything possible to win the FA cup. We lost last season final in penalty, but this season we are preparing from every angle. We will defeat anybody, whether Nimba United or Mighty Barrolle, we are desperate for trophy,” Blapoh said before the semifinal match between Nimba United and Mighty Barrolle.
The player also praised returnee Ramond Fanciah contribution to their success this season. The Lone Star U-23 defender left the Country last season for greener pasture, but returned home rejoining the team in the second phase of the league and Blapoh said his return solidify the team defense.
He also praised Technical Director Francis Sarploh and the entire technical staff, management and fans for the support so far this season.
