United Wins 1-0 on Lomell’s Goal

Nimba United FC (NUFC)continues to show their supremacy in the Liberia Football Association First Division National League as the “Mountaineers” defeated NPA Anchors 1-0 at NorthStar Stadium on Wednesday.
The victory registers NUFC’s fifth consecutive win.
Mustapha Lomell's winner in the 85 minute gave the “Mountaineers” the victory.
The strike converted skipper, Titus Cooper’s strike that penetrated the Anchor’s defense and not even keeper Edwin Boakai could stop it from pocketing itself in the net.
Lomell’s lone goal against the “Port Boys” has put to book his second for Nimba United following four league matches his season.
With only three substitutions made in the second half, Coach Kollie Korvy men came late to collect all three points at home.
The Liberian Best Coach introduced Darlington Suwo for Barbu Kollie in the 54th minute, Eratus Wee welcomed on pitch Franklin Mulbah in the 66th minute, while Adetu Evanonye rescue injured Joseph Dennis two minutes later.
Dennis was later rushed to an undisclosed clinic and he is now said to be recovering from a chest pain sustained after colliding with goalkeeper Emmanuel Deanneh.
NPA Anchors found their balance as the last stanza came closer to end but ever-dangerous Lamin Jabateh and Emmanuel Freeman who had separate opportunities but missed the target.
The win moves Nimba United up to second place in the Top Flight League standings with 20 points after 9 games. It also sees the “Mountaineers” close the gap to just one point at the top of the table.
The defending champions win has placed them a point beneath league leader Barrack Young Controller (BYC) which has 21 points and with a match against Holder FC on Friday.
Nimba United now has a pending match with the “Shipping Boys of LISCR who plays away to FC Fassell on Thursday.
In other games results at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, Gardnersville FC defeated New Hope FC 1-0 in the first second Division match while Sanniquillie-based, Sidina taste another defeat at the hands of table Leader, MC Breweries. The Beer boys whipped Sidina 2-0 at the same venue.
