Liberia’s Traditional Football Club, Mighty Barrolle scored two goals in added time at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium Thursday to record its first win of the season in the second tier of the Liberia Football Association.
Moses Cooper and Lauranzo Watzkins late strikes inspired the ‘Kanyan Pepper Boys’ to a 3-1 win over table topper, Gardnersville FC.
Coach Wilson Farley’s men took the lead from the penalty spot through Sam Tisdell in the 34th minute.
The Gardnersville based club came close to getting an equalizer in the 43rd minute from a free kick just above the penalty area, but was denied by the Rollers ‘shot-stopper’ Tito Wesseh, who performed brightly in the first 45 minutes.
Back from break, Barrolle had the chance of doubling the lead, but poor finishing from Sam Johnson and Sam Tisdell kept the score at 1-0 until the Gardnersville Boys got the much needed equalizer in the 64th minute.
Team skipper, Luke Cheeks dribbled his way pass defender Michael Jaesue and Archie Brown before shooting the round object in the bottom right corner of goalkeeper Tito Wesseh’s net.
Gardnersville FC lost all three points in the added time of play, when Moses Cooper and Lauranzo Watzkins grabbed two vital goals to seal the win for Barrolle.
Despite the defeat, Gardnersville FC maintains its place at table with 9 points.
Elsewhere, Bendu FC also recorded its first win of the season.
The Liberia-Ghanaian based club defeated Small Town FC 2-0 to hand the Logan Town based club its second defeat in two outings.
