LFA re-instates disqualified clubs as National League resumes tomorrow

By LFA Press

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has reinstated five clubs that were recently barred from the ongoing national league with immediate effect.

The clubs are Invincible Eleven and NPA Anchors of the First Division as well as Monrovia Club Breweries, Mighty Blue Angels and Small Town FC of the Second Division.

According to a release, the decision to reinstate the clubs was made during a meeting of the Emergency Committee of the Liberia Football Association chaired by LFA President Musa Bility.

Mr. Bility informed the clubs during the Emergency Committee meeting held during the week that three points will be deducted from each of the clubs from whatever points they accumulate at the end of the ongoing Cellcom National League.

The LFA release said latest decision is in the spirit of football development and unity in the game however, the   LFA wants all clubs to take the requirements of the First Instant Board seriously to avoid similar action.

The decision to reinstate the teams followed an appeal to LFA Boss Musa Bility by First Division clubs and a subsequent review of requirements by the Competitions Committee through the First Instant Board.

Meanwhile, updated fixtures which include four of the five additional clubs have been sent out to reflect the latest LFA decision. Invincible Eleven (IE) elected not to compete this season due to logistical issues. The league resumes tomorrow, February 18th with First and Second Division matches.

In the First Division, LISCR FC will host Holder FC at 2pm at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium while ELWA United will welcome Watanga FC at 4pm at the same venue.

In the Second Division, Small Town FC will host Sidina FC and Mighty Barrolle will welcome Mighty Blue Angels with both matches to be played at the Nancy B. Doe Stadium in Kakata. In the other second division matches, Gardnersville FC will host Fair Play FC wile Jubilee FC will welcome Aries FC at the Unification Town Sports Stadium in Margibi County.
