SWAL Election Set For Dec. 10

The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) has named a three-man committee to conduct a free and fair election up to December 10, 2015.
In a major press conference addressed yesterday, the President of SWAL, Roland Mulbah, in consultation with the Executive Committee named Mr. Numennie Williams, who served two terms as President of SWAL as Chairman of the election committee, while Ernest Mccay and Eddie Harmon were named Co-chairman and Secretary of the committee respectively.
In addition to the major press conference yesterday, the parent body for sports writing in Liberia endorsed Mr. Daniel Nyakonah, a full member of the body for the position of Secretary General in the pending PUL By-Election slated for Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the city of Buchanan.
The members guaranteed that they will support Mr. Nyakonah for the top seat of the PUL secretariat noting that history must repeat itself.
More than 35 SWAL members with voting rights, who attended the major press conference, pledged their commitment to vote for the SWAL candidate, Mr. Daniel Nyakonah.
Most of them instigated regularizing their status to vote in the pending election which showed serious commitment on the part of SWAL’s intention.
“I want action and not noise comrades. Let me commend you for the seriousness shown for comrade Nyakonah, SWAL President, Roland Mulbah praised members while they registered for the PUL SG post stated for this week in Buchanan.
Nyakonah is the current Assistant Secretary General of PUL, but the hard working and versatile journalist is seeking the top seat after the resignation of his boss, Mr. D. Kaihenneh Sengbeh.
It can be recalled that SWAL endorsed members and they won various positions at the level of the PUL leadership.
Mr. Malcolm W. Joseph, who previously served as President of SWAL, was endorsed and won as Assistant Secretary General, Secretary General and Vice President of the PUL.
Sam Wah Johnson, a former Vice President of SWAL was endorsed by the association and won as Assistant Secretary General of PUL, while Henry Flomo, also former President of SWAL got similar endorsement and won as Assistant Secretary General.
It can also be recalled that the late Zoegar Jaynes got the blessing of SWAL and won as Financial Secretary of PUL.
Daniel Nyakonah got the blessing of his association, SWAL and the workaholic broke record by winning the highest margin in the history of PUL in 2013 when he beat his rival 151 votes to 50 grabbing a 101 margin.
In 2002, Malcolm W. Joseph and Sam Johnson, both members of SWAL, served PUL as Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General respectively.
SWAL members and veterans have assured they will support Mr. Nyakonah as Secretary General in the pending PUL By-Election slated for Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the city of Buchanan.
