Bong County based Mighty Dragons Football Club is now a 1st division team.

The team progressed to the top flight in Liberian Football after defeating Gardnerville FC 1-0 at the Cuttington University Sports pitch in Suakoko on Sunday September 13.

An early six minute terrific head-up from the skipper Jonathan McKay through a corner was enough to give Mighty Dragons all three points.

The first half of the match gave all odds to the home team that played with speed and intensity, knowing fully well that a win for them will advance them to the championship final of the second division.

Bach from break, Mighty Dragons-the match winner lost possessions to Gardnerville FC at 20%-70% according to my own analysis.

The game looked embroil into confusion when Gardnerville FC officials frowned at a straightly red card given to their winger wearing number 13 shirt whose name is withheld.

The visitors took complete control of the second half and dominated proceedings creating five possible goal chances.

Garnerville FC winger James Richardson who was undoubtedly the man of the match came close to scoring in the 75 minute-thanks to Bong County first choice goalkeeper Lincoln Gbendeh.

Despite been down to ten men, the visitors proved too good for the Bong County team till the final whistle.

Mighty Dragons now overtook Gardnerville FC to lead Group B with 16 points followed by the LISCR Fidel team that has 14 points.

The scramble for third place took place Sunday between Holders FC and traditional side Mighty Barrolle in Monrovia where reports had it the it drew 2-2.

It means Holders sit third with 13 points and Mighty Barrolle now fourth with 7 points.

The grand finale for the Liberia Football Association second division championship will be staged at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium between Bong County based Mighty Dragons and Group A leaders ELWA United in not a distance future.

Can Dragons replicate what took place in Kakata, Margibi County with a 3-2 victory over ELWA United in the FA Cup or can ELWA United pull the triggers of reprisal to be crowned Champions of the second division league?
