The president of Barrolle Sports Association (BSA), Lewis Brown, has vowed to resign if his team fails to retain the LFA first division championship shield.

“I am prepared to resign if Barrolle gives us anything less than the championship,” said Brown over the weekend at the Sports Commission basketball gymnasium during a massive mobilization campaign when he addressed thousands of fans and sympathizers of the Gbezohn ‘Rollers.

The mobilization and membership drive scheme, which was accordingly launched Saturday to “bring back the old team spirit of oneness,” saw thousands Barrolle fans and supporters parading the principal streets of Monrovia.

The march started around 9:00 Saturday morning at the Monrovia City Hall and ended at the Sports Commission gym where a vigorous membership drive was launched.

During the program, the association, including officials and players, apologized to its many fans and supporters for the recent dismal 5-0 loss to George Haddad’s Alliance FC.

The players especially vowed to retain the 2002 LFA first division championship shield come what may.

Football pundits however view the Saturday mobilization and membership drive as a face-saving affair intended to numb the shock that Alliance FC has sent through the spines of fans, officials and players of Barrolle since the 2002 LFA soccer league commenced.

Although Alliance FC had earlier defeated Barrolle 3-2 before a record crowd, the latest 5-0 defeat was the proverbial straw that broke Barrolle’s back.

Following the defeat, Mr. Brown promised immediate investigation into the defeat, giving the impression that the match was fixed.

Barrolle’s executive committee consequently sacked the entire technical staff including the caretaker of the team. Moreover, the committee was mandated to investigate the team and submit its finding for prompt action.

But up to date, nothing has been heard of the executive committee’s findings.
