As Snowe Leaves for Studies:
WHO HEADS LFA?

There are unconfirmed reports that the president of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mr. Edwin Melvin Snowe, is to shortly leave the country to pursue further studies in sports administration.

The reports say Snowe received the scholarship from the World Football governing body, FIFA, to undergo the studies in the United States. The insiders did not however say how long Mr. Snowe is going to stay away.

While the departure of the LFA President still remains unclear, inside sources said the question as to who will end the term of the LFA boss is what has begun to linger on the lips of sports lovers as the Association’s statute does not contain a specific rule in that regard.

Mrs. S. Izetta Wesseley, Snowe’s immediate deputy, according to insiders, is said to lack the administrative ability to handle the pressing issues bothering the Liberian football governing body.

In recent times, especially following the Mali-2002 Nations Cup games, the LFA President has been mute on matters regarding the Association and the Nation’s soccer team, the Lone Star, after the team’s dismal performance in Mali.

As reports have it, another continental football competition will shortly kickoff and yet the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has not come up with a plan to reorganize the Lone Star.

Prior to the Lone Star’s participation in the Mali-2002 games, relations between officials of the LFA, especially its President, Edwin Snowe and key players of the team, mainly coach player and technical director George Weah had spilled in confusion, apparently leading to the Lone Star’s poor performance in Mali.

But whatsoever the matter may be, as Mr. Snowe is reportedly on his way out for further studies in the United States on a FIFA scholarship, what will become of the LFA and the Lone Star?

For the past several weeks, the Executive Committee of the LFA has been holding series of meetings apparently to deliberate on these matters affecting the LFA and the Lone Star, but up to the time this story was posted, officials of the LFA had remained mute on the matter.

We’ll bring you an update in our subsequent report.
