Starting the LFA national football league on uneven keel, Liberia’s darling
club, the Invincible Eleven, has surprised even its fans by becoming the
first team in the ongoing league to qualify for the Big Eight.
IE whipped St. Anthony 1-0 Sunday at the FIFA-refurbished Antoinette Tubman
Stadium at United Nations Drive to become one of the eight qualifiers for
the quarterfinal rounds of the LFA national soccer league.
The Yellow Boys dominated the entire match but were unfortunate to increase
Emmanuel Gbamy’s 17th minute goal. IE’s Robert Duncan was our Man of the
Match.
In the female department, Kortie IE and Pointer Sisters drew on a goalless
score line, while Blanco butchered Lioness 2-0. Goal poacher Iaveline
Tolbert was on target twice.
Saturday
LISCR and the dramatic LPRC Oilers drew 1-1.
Peter Kouh scored Oilers’ lone goal in the first half. LISCR’s prolific
scorer Henrique Gobah equaled the score in the second half.
In the female division, World Girls and Lioness drew 0-0, while Mighty BUSA
downed George Haddad’s Alliance FC 2-1 in the male division Friday.
