Liberian international Zizi
Roberts has successfully undergone knee surgery in Colorado,
America.
The surgery to his right knee will keep him out of action
for the remaining two months of the Major League Soccer
season, where he plays for the Colorado Rapids.
Roberts told BBC Sport that he was happy that the
procedure had gone well.
"I have been experiencing pain in my knee for a long time
but until now I have opted for a conservative course of
treatment, including wearing a brace and resting," he said.
So far this season Roberts has made just five appearances
for his club this season and scored a single goal.
The striker's operation comes as a blow to Liberia as
they prepare to host Togo on Sunday in a 2006 World Cup
qualifier.
The Liberia Football Association have been trying to get
Roberts to return to the Lone Star squad but the knee injury
has prevented him from joining the squad.
The striker however refused to rule out a return to the
national side.
"I hope they can win with flying colours but right now,
my priority is to become healthy".
His last appearance for Liberia was last year when he
helped the Lone Star qualify for the group stages of the
2006 World Cup qualifiers when they beat the Gambia 3-0 at
home.
