Zambia's World Cup qualifier against Liberia moved forward

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed the shift of
the World Cup qualifying match between Zambia and Liberia a week
earlier to Oct. 2 in consideration of the presidential election in
Liberia which falls on Oct. 11, local media reported Wednesday.
FAZ spokesperson Mwansa Mbulakulima told a press briefing here on
Wednesday that the Liberian Football Association (LFA) had requested
from FIFA to have the match, to be played in Monrovia, Liberia, moved
forward from Oct. 9 to 2, according to the Zambia News Agency (ZANA).
Mbulakulima said FAZ considers the security of the national team a
priority and has therefore agreed in the shift of date, adding that
Libeia was still under a United Nations Peace Keeping mission with
15,000 security personnel deployed.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson said foreign-based players would not
feature in the match since both teams have already been ousted out of
the 2006 finals in Germany.
Liberia is last in Africa's Group 1 with four points while Zambia is
third with 16, four behind leader Togo with one match remaining.
Senegal, who knocked Zambia out 1-0 in the Sept. 3 match, scored 18
points and is now ranking the second in the group.
