Liberia's former coach Kadala Kromah

Kadala Kromah quit as the coach of Liberia after his house was attacked

Since the group phase of the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign kicked off for Africa in June their have been 12 coaching casualties.

Actually maybe it should be 14 if you count all three coaches that have left Malawi's 'coaching panel.'

In April the Football Association of Malawi named three coaches John Kaputa, Yassin Osman and Kinnah Phirri to work together for a year before the best one was given the job permanently.

The Flames are now looking for a new coach after the resignations of the three at various times since April, Yassin Osman was the latest to go.

Osman stepped aside after the Flames drew 2-2 with Tunisia as they let slip a two goal lead against the African Champions.

Another recent casualty is Liberia's Kadala Kromah who quit his post on Tuesday, following the ransacking of his house on Sunday after the Lone Star lost 3-0 at home to Senegal.

On Monday, Egypt fired their Italian coach Marco Tardelli, a former World Cup winner, after a rare defeat at the hands of neighbours Libya.

Algeria, Libya, Mali, Sudan and Zimbabwe have all fired their coaches while there have also been switches in Benin, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda.

More than half of the coaches that have moved on are foreign-born coaches who have not found favour with their African employers,

Mali fired Alain Moizan, a former French international with Senegalese roots, in July after they failed to win in their first three matches in Group One.

Robert Waseige, a former national coach of Belgium, was fired just three months into his four year contract after Algeria suffered an embarrassing 3-0 home loss to Gabon in September.

While Zimbabwe's Rahman Gumbo got the same treatment after Zimbabwe went down by the same scoreline at home to Nigeria in Group Four.

Ilija Loncarevic from Croatia got his marching orders in July despite Libya's 1-0 win the same month in Sudan and has been replaced by Mohamed Al Selini.

The same game also marked the end of the topsy-turvy coaching career of former Poland manager Wojciech Lazarek in Sudan, where he had also worked with Al Hilal.

His replacement is Ahmed Zaki, a former Sudan international.

Serb coach Ratomir Dujkovic did not have his contract with Rwanda renewed

Jones Attuquayefio left his job with Benin in a row over his employment conditions at the end of July and was replaced in August by Herve Revelli, the former French international.

Uganda's Mike Mutebi has been relegated in recent weeks to assistant coach, having been replaced by the Egyptian Mahmoud Abbas, whose first match in charge was Sunday's defeat by South Africa in a Group Two qualifier..

Ratomir Dujkovic, originally from Serbia and Montenegro, did not have his contract renewed in June, even after taking Rwanda to the African Cup of Nations Cup finals earlier this year.

Swede Roger Palmgren has stepped in to look after the Wasps.

Mariano Barreto walked out on Ghana to take over the Portuguese club Maritimo, the Black Stars are currently under the guidance of caretaker coach Sam Arday.
