-Wilfred Lardner Is Dead

-Barrolle Mourns

         Wilfred “Kajaniel” Lardner

Wilfred “Kajaniel” Lardner, the man who is on record as the first Liberian coach to take the National team of Liberia, Lone Star to its first Africa cup of Nations in South Africa 1996, is dead after being in coma for more than two weeks due to what was described as pressure.

The veteran Liberian coach, who won the treble with Liberia Football Association (LFA) defending champions Black Star, took over Mighty Barrolle as the red and white outfit's Technical Director, but could only serve the position for less than three months. He died at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in Monrovia this morning, Monday, May 11, 2009.

It can be recalled coach Lardner suffered similar situation last season when he was at the helm of authority at Black Star but later recovered.

There are reports that the coach may have suffered the situation due to the stress he went through to see his son earn Bachelor degree from the University of Liberia on April 29, 2009.

Meanwhile, Mighty Barrolle, the team coach Lardner lastly coach, has expressed sadness over the veteran Liberian Coach death and termed it as a blow in their quest for the LFA premiership crown.

“He was a great help to us, but as it is said in the Holy Bible, “death is an inevitable venture to man’s destiny,”. We did all in our weak way to save him, but the time came for the Lord to take him,” one Mighty Barrolle official noted in a tearful mood.

The coach’s body has since been deposited at the Samuel A, Striker Funeral Home in Sinkor, Monrovia awaiting funeral arrangement.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) is also mourning the death of Coach Lardner.
