The Thunder Bay Chill answered their most often asked question
Thursday, re-signing import Doco Wesseh for the 2005 season.
The return of Wesseh, chosen in the first round, 16th overall, by
Virginia of the United Soccer League, in the circuit's annual draft
earlier this winter, was not expected to return and it came as welcome
news to Chill head coach Tony Colistro.
'It was great to hear that Doco would return. Obviously the team that
we have built this season to get to the next round is only enhanced
with Doco's return. He is a player who had some very good options but
felt that his commitment to Thunder Bay and his loyalty to the club
would never be replaced by dollars and cents,' said an elated Colistro.
Wesseh attended Virginia Beach's training camp in early April, making
a good impression in three exhibition appearances. He was also
approached by two other USL teams.
'Thunder Bay is my second home,' explained the Liberian native. 'The
last two years have been great. The team, the people in the community,
my new family and friends that I have made all make we want to come
back and enjoy what I have. I have gone through many struggles in life
and I don't want ot give what I have up so soon,' Wesseh stated in a
release issued by the Chill.
The team is currently in negotiations with a USL Division I club that
would allow him to complete his season in the Premier Development
League and then make the jump to the pro ranks.
