Liberian legend George
Weah has come to the rescue of the cash-strapped national team.
Weah is preparing to pay for a $12,000 chartered flight to fly
the Lone Star for their Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea in
Accra on Saturday.
The bulk of the team is currently stranded at home in Monrovia,
while three foreign-based players are in Ghana.
Liberia's FA had cancelled the Ghana Airways flight due to take
the team from Monrovia to Accra because of lack of funds.
But all that will change under 24 hours before the game in
Accra. Weah is currently seeking ways of transferring the money
for the chartered plane.
Ghana Airways, who will supply the chartered aircraft, wants an
advance payment. So Weah is making contacts in New York to settle
the bill.
If the team are unable to make it to Accra in time, Liberia
will be forced to use players at the Budumburan refugee camp.
