Former LFA General Secretary George Wah Williams Aspires for the LFA Presidency!!

As the much anticipated LFA elective congress draws near, names have started to emerge for the various posts that would be up for grasps.

What is ever intriguing about these elections will be the onslaught on the current incumbent President Cllr. Izetta Wesley, FIFA's much decorated first female president of football association in the world. With so much anxiety around these elections, the President of Vantaa Sports marketing and Management Company, Liberia's Premier sports marketing firm has tossed his hat in the race for a place on the LFA Executive Committee.

Speaking to an array of sports administrators, Mr. Williams, who is former General Secretary of the Liberia Football Association, indicated that with his experience and achievements in the game and administration in Liberia , he could bring a lot of dividends to the LFA Executive Committee as well as availing his programming and marketing skills for the Liberian Football.

The young and vibrant former general secretary of the LFA who resigned the post in March of 2009 due to what he called “the need to expand his contributions to football beyond the confines of the office of the General Secretary” has recorded unprecedented success especially on the international scene. Rising without notice to become a member of the CAF Disciplinary Committee and renewed for the period 2006-2012. The very knowledgeable Williams made his doubters shame when without ever Commissioning a game in Liberia became both a FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner.

He was recently appointed by FIFA to the last round of qualifiers in Ghana where Guinea went down to Burkina Faso 3:0. The energetic and inspiring football consultant enjoyed appoints from the President of CAF where he served as a part of the President Hayatou’s delegation to the CAF U-17 Championships in Togo(2007), CAF FUTSAL Championship in Libya(2008) and recently the CAF CHAN Championships in neighboring Cote D’Ivoire ( 2009).

Upon resignation, Mr. Williams relying on the invaluable experiences acquired over the years established Vantaa Sports Marketing and Management Company ( known popularly as Vantaa Sports). Mr. Williams called for sober decision making amongst football decision makers as the elective congress draws near. Mr. Williams is a current member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board and a Match Commissioner for both CAF and FIFA. He is an accomplished sports administrator and consultant.

Mr. Williams candidacy announcement was met with tremendous reception as anticipations have being heightened given the sports administration savvy of Mr. Williams.
