In MLS, Shannon scored an impressive 20 goals
and 7 assists in 50 regular season games with the Tampa Bay
Mutiny from 1997 to 1999. His best season was 1999, when he led
the Mutiny in scoring with 12 goals and 5 assists in 27 games.
He was originally acquired by Tampa Bay in the third-round of
the 1997 MLS College Draft, where he was selected out of Robert
Morris University of Pittsburgh, PA.
He left Tampa Bay in 2000 and joined Maritimo
of the Portuguese First Division, playing there for two seasons.
When his contract expired in 2002, he returned to the US,
signing with the Colorado Rapids of MLS on July 26, but had
difficulty cracking their already established line-up and saw
limited playing time. He was released by Colorado on November 5,
the same day the team released former Whitecaps defender Rick
Titus. Earlier this year Shannon had tryouts with two other MLS
sides, the New York/New Jersey MetroStars and DC United.
Musa Shannon (6' 170 lb; 183 cm 77 kg) was

he earned a scholarship to attend Robert Morris. He holds a

Shannon is expected to be in the line-up for
the Whitecaps first preseason game of the year, as Vancouver
takes on the expansion Abbotsford Rangers of the USL Premier
Development League in Chilliwack on Saturday, a 7:30 p.m.
kick-off at the Chilliwack Landing Sports Ground.
