U-10 and
U-13 Tourney Gains Momentum

The much talked about Papa Kamara U-10 and U-13
Youth Soccer Peace and Reconciliation Tournament currently taking
place at the famous Walker soccer pitch at the corner of Broad and
Lynch Streets continue to produce more fireworks.
According to the organizers of the tournament,
William Witherspoon, who is chairman of the Youth Soccer Promoters of
Central Monrovia, the U-10 & 13 tourney started on May 18 with 15
counties of Liberia participating.

Mr. Witherspoon said participating youths
representing the 15 counties are from Paynesville, New Kru Town, Logan
Town, West Point, and part of Central Monrovia.
The tourney is divided into two categories-U-10
& 13 and is being played on round basis.
Commenting further, he said the tourney is
intended to foster peace unity amongst youth of the nation aimed at
discouraging them from holding arms and focus on education for the
betterment of the nation.

Mr. Witherspoon added that the sponsor of the tournament Papa
Kamara, who was selected by The NEWS Paper as Youth Soccer Promoter
for 2002, has put into place all necessary mechanisms for the success
of the tourney.
He said Mr. Kamara has assured the participating
teams of a set of jersey, sports materials, school items to the
winning team, highest scorer as a way of encouraging to keep up the
spirit for the good of the game.
