Liberian Frank Seator struck twice to give Perak a 2-0 win over
Valencia of Maldives in their opening AFC Cup Group D match at the
Naval Base Stadium here last night.
Perak were without injured defensive midfielder K. Nanthakumar and
national goalkeeper Hamsani Ahmad, who came down with fever. But their
defence, marshalled by Argentine Luciano Goux and national player
Syamsol Saad, stood firm.
Seator,
in his second season with Perak, put the home team in front in the
44th, blasting in a cross from skipper Ahmad Shahrul Azhar.
The combination of Seator and Shahrul brought the second goal in the
60th minute.
The Liberian connected with a cross from his midfielder after Valencia
goalkeeper Aslam Abdul Raheem was slow to push away the lob.
Perak, who won the Premier I title last year, will be away to Hong
Kong's Happy Valley in their next match on Feb 25.
The other team in the group is Home United of Singapore.
