Troubled Jochen Figge Selects 25 Players for National Team

(Mensur Abdulkeni)- Troubled Jochen Figge has named 25 players in preparation of the upcoming African nations Cup qualifier with Liberia here on March 29,2003.

The German coach who was villified for the disastrous CECAFA Cup tournament last November, has his hands full these days. First, Asrat Haile and Sebsebe Yibas, his two assistants and also his interpreters, resigned from their posts citing differences with him. Secondly, some of the veteran players are complaining that he has selected far too many new and untested players for the crucial encounter with Liberia.
 
The 25 named players are:
Arba Minch: The brothers Adugna & Mekonnen Gelaneh.
Eth.Coffee: Yordanos Abay, Andargachew Solomon, Anteneh Alamerew & Ashenafi Girma.
St: George: Samson Mulugeta, Getu Teshome, Muluken Wolde Yohannes, Mulu-Alem Regassa and Anteneh Feleke.
Adama City: Berhanu Kaseem.
Insurance: Andwalem Regassa.
Banks FC: Zewdu Bekele, Wakjira Anbesse, Yared Abeje & Abebe Wasihun.
Nyala: Haider Mensur & Ermias Kidane.
EEPCO: Tsega ZeAb Asgedom
Harar Beer: Ambaye Tadesse
BSP: Webeshet desalegn.
Muger Cement: Andwalem Negussie
Mamo-Alem Shanko
 
Figge is expected to cut seven players in the next few days to make the final list.
