Triple Appointment At Sports Ministry

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
At least three persons have been named to various positions at the Youth and Sports Ministry on Newport Street in Monrovia.

The Sports Ministry announced that Mrs. Elizabeth Omoko has become the Acting Deputy Minister for Administration.

Mrs. Omoko, who is also Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports for Administration, has been mandated to occupy the post while Hon. D. Max Leboe faces an indefinite suspension imposed on him by the Liberian Head of State, Chairman Gyude Bryant.

Hon. Leboe has allegedly embezzled US$13,000.00 from the Youth and Sports Ministry's coffers.
In another appointment news, Henry V. Freeman is the new Personnel Director of the Sports Ministry.

Mr. Freeman, formerly Planning and Research Officer at the Ministry, has replaced Roosevelt O. Sana who resigned recently.

At the same time, the Ministry appointed soccer coach Navaro N. Saykie, Sr. as Director of Sports, Republic of Liberia. He takes over from James O. Jarvan (alias JOJ) who has been acting in the post.
The three appointments were contained in separate memorandums prepared by Ignatius K. Toe, Special Assistant to Youth and Sports Minister.
Meanwhile, the Youth and Sports Minister Counselor Wheatonia Dioxn-Barnes left the country for the United States on Wednesday. The Sports Minister has officially informed her co-workers that she is on a private visit.
She has appointed Deputy Youth and Sports Minister for Operations, Peter W. Vuku, to act in her stead. Cllr. Barnes mandated the Acting Sports Minister to run the Ministry along with the Acting Deputy Minister for Administration, Elizabeth Omoko, and the Advisor to the Minister Jeremaiah Witherspoon as well as the Comptroller, Robert Y. Cooper
