Draw For Liberia

The Liberian national squad, Lone Star has been placed among the
African elites in basketball for the 2007 All-African Games in
Algeria.
The draw was confirmed according to a communication from the
headquarters of the governing body of African basketball, FIBA-Africa
in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Wednesday, April 22, 2007.
The Supreme Council of Sports In Africa (SCSA) in collaboration with
FIBA-Africa conducted the draw on Monday, April 9, 2007 for the 9th
All-African Games in Algiers, Algeria.
Liberia is in Group B with Angola, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali and DR
Congo. The matches of this group are scheduled to be hosted in
Staouali.
The host Algeria is joined by Senegal, Egypt, Ivory Coast, South
Africa and Tunisia and will play their matches in Harcha.
Liberia will face Cameroon on July 12, Angola on July 13, Mali on
July 14, Nigeria on July 16 and DR Congo on July 17, 2007
respectively in the group stage.
The quarter-final stage will be held on July 19, while the
semi-finals are scheduled for July 20 before the final on July 22,
2007.
Meanwhile, another draw has been held by FIBA-Africa for the 2007
African Nations Cup in Angola.
Liberia is in Group C with Nigeria, Central African Republic (CAR)
and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They will play their
games in Huambo.
Group A teams will play in Benguela and includes Angola, Cape Verde,
Rwanda and Morocco.
In Group B, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali and Egypt will play in
Lubango.
Cabinda will host Group D teams in Algeria, Tunisia, Cameroon and
South Africa.
The host Angola will take on Rwanda on August 15, 2007 in the
opening match of the tournament. |
