To Foster
Relations:
Lone Star Manager Wants Match With U. S.
-Proposes Washington DC As Venue

The technical manager of the National football
team, the Lone Star, Kadalah Kromah, wants a soccer encounter arranged
with the United States national team as a means of fostering relations
between the two countries.
In a chat with our Correspondent recently,
Manager Kromah said with relations currently strained between the two
countries, sports could be used to break the ice and calm the
situation.
He said he wants a match arranged by the two countries
soccer federations that will serve as a tool in bringing the two
countries together diplomatically. “We know what sports is capable of
doing in situation Liberia finds herself in. If the diplomatic course
is taking a longer time, we can use sports to mend fences between the
two countries,” manager Kromah said.
Quizzed how can his idea be transformed into reality,
the outspoken manager said other countries of the world that were
involved in conflict used sports to solve their problems. “As far as
Liberia’s relations is concerned with the U. S., it is only diplomatic
and not physical conflict. So we can use sports to solve this problem.
If a match is arranged in Washington DC, where George Bush is
residing, between the two countries under the theme of fostering
relations, something positive could come out,” he said.
Commenting further, Manager Kromah said there are lots
of Liberians residing in Washington DC, who could take advantage of
this match to push Liberia’s cause to the US government.
“My idea may sound strange to some people, but it does
work, evidenced by other countries’ examples.” He then urged the
Liberia Football Association (LFA) to take cue from his advice and
begin to work in that direction.
“Liberia needs America in these difficult times. If the
political course cannot speedily find a solution to the strain
relations, sports can be used as a tool in this direction. Sports
should not be overlooked, it can make things happen,” he concluded.
