Three Players
Banned From School Sports
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Inter-School Sports Association (ISSA) continues to be
plagued with acts of indiscipline among schools and students during
its annual games.
Last year, it was the Trinity United Methodist School
(TUMS) in New Kru Town whose players and students were banned for not
abiding by the rules.
The latest victim is the First Assemblies of God High
School on Buchanan Street that has been banned for the rest of the
season. ISSA has accused the First AG School of involving in acts of
vandalism.
The president of ISSA Joseph Willie claimed, "First AG
High School misbehaved during an off season tournament that was
sanctioned by ISSA."
Apart from the First AG High School, ISSA also
came down hard on three kickball players of the Light House Mission in
Paynesville. The trio, Tete Clinton, Patricia Sieh and Kola Harris,
ISSA stated, will be out of school sports for two years. They have
been accused of attacking kickball referees.
ISSA, the governing of sports among schools, has,
meanwhile, fined the Light House Mission L$5,000. According to ISSA,
failure on the part of the school to pay the fine would lead to a
two-year ban like its three players and students.
At the same time, ISSA hopes to conclude the preliminaries of its
games, mainly football and basketball, by the end of month. |
