United signs Liberian striker Doe

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United signed Liberian national team striker Francis Doe on Tuesday

D.C. United acquired Doe's playing rights after the forward was waived
by New York on February 21. Per team and league policy, terms of the
deal were not released.

"We are excited
about the prospects for Francis," United General Manager Dave Kasper
said. "He is a dynamic, young player who will compete for playing time
on our front line."

Doe, 22, has a lengthy resume, having played professionally in Greece, Ghana, Cameroon and the United States.

While playing in the Cameroonian league in 2002 for Tonnerre Yaounde,
Doe was voted best foreign player and third best overall player. That
same year Doe also led the club to the CAF Cup final, netting six goals
in eight CAF Cup matches.

The striker ended the 2002 season with 12 goals in 17 matches.

In 2004, Doe moved to the United Soccer Leagues' Minnesota Thunder,
before agreeing to terms on a two-year deal with Greek club Atromitos.
He went on to tally six goals in 20 league matches his first season at
the club. With the club, he appeared in the 2006 UEFA Cup against
Sevilla of Spain's La Liga.

In 2007, Doe
returned stateside and signed with the New York Red Bulls. He scored
his first MLS goal and tallied an assist in a 2-2 draw against the New
England Revolution and finished the season with two goals and one
assist in helping the club qualify for the MLS playoffs.

Doe started the club's first playoff game against the New England
Revolution, logging 68 minutes in a 0-0 draw, but was unable to play in
the second leg due to injury.

Doe
represented Liberia in the qualifying round of the 2006 World Cup and
the 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifying stage, scoring two goals in
the latter.

Frank Seator

Hi everybody,

Frank Seator is currently playing with Selangor, a Liga Super (first-tier league) team in Malaysia.

more pictures of him in action can be seen here: http://www.sportsmalaysia.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=81&pos=16

Everton takes 14-year old Liberian Abraham Donzo

Everton have reportedly taken 14-year old Liberian striker Abraham Donzo on trial from his parent club, Ottawa Fury FC of Canada.

Abraham spent two weeks training with the academy last year and is back again for his spring break. The youngster arrived in Canada from Liberia in September 2005.

The Fury's technical director Colin Murdy told ontariosoccer.ca: “We have all been pleased and excited by the progress that Abraham has made over the past year.

"As a talented young player he still has aspects of the game he has to continue to develop, and the opportunity to train at the Everton academy will certainly improve his skill sets."

He continued: "Ray Hall, the Everton Academy Director, was pleased with Abraham’s performance and arranged for this second opportunity for Abraham to be evaluated by the Everton staff. The team is still been organized and have played four test matches around Monrovia. ACSC comprises of Liberian youths between the ages of 17 and 19 with 20 being the maximum. So far, I have 25 youth players and have lost one out of the four All Star matches which displayed collection of both premiership and division one players. ACSC went down 4:3 out of four All Star Game played.

The news of ACS Christopolis, a division III team, defeating collection of top local base players has spread fast to my own astonishment. Gedi & Son, a premiership team have invited ACSC for a friendly. The first of the second test match staged with an organized division II team, Andora drew 2:2 on March 5th. My representative, Mr. Kartoe Gaye told me on March 8th that the ACSC also received an invitation from the County team of Bomi.

With the short blast of success, one might wondered why did I choose to begin from division III. Well, the answer to that is simple. The strengths of Lone Star lies in our youths. The football authority in Liberia is not making use of these kids. Instead, The FA invest in player between the ages of 25 and 35. Sounds to me like it is a bad news for our lone star. In due time, they will know that before Monrovia existed, there was Christopolis, the ACS Christopolis. Our color is the RED/WHITE/BLUE

Young Liberian face each other in CAF Champion League!

Omega Roberts, Jerry Jimmy and other Liberian on Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast will meet Coton Sport of Cameroon in the second round of the champion's League. Coton Sport of Cameroon also have Eric Weeks and Alex Nimely from Liberia.

They meet March 2-4 in the first leg and March 16-18 in the second leg. This will be interesting. This is a good thing for our players, they are getting some international experience.

Who do you want to win and go forward? As for me, I am happy for all of them but would prefer that Omega Roberts' team, Sewe Sport win because he is a defender and the Lone Star need him to gain as much experience as possible to enable him to help our defense. We need more defensive players then any other position.

Lets see how they will play each other.

Liberia still have some ways to go!

Black Star draw with Satellite of Guinea is not a good result for the home team. This tells us that we've got a long way to go. Being Black Star first international game, I'll say like we always say "they try" but we need to win our home games to take the pressure off us when we play the away game. The same situation happen with Port last year, they draw with the Senegal team in Monrovia and got beat in Senegal in the returned match. A well organize football nation 95% of the time, will win their home games.

The LFA President Madame Wesley boosted on BBC that Liberia will do well this time around, because the local league was the best in a long time. Is this the "do well when we cannot win at home? I hope Black Star advance to the next round, but I don't think so, we are not ready yet.

Look at IE, they could not make it to the big stage, it's a shame. As for the LFA, all the official need to step aside and let serious people take over. This LFA is the worst ever in our history. All they are doing is eating the money and is not decveloping the game.
