Liberia's best chances of making progress both continentally and internationally (as in making it to both the ANC and World Cup Tourneys) are far unforseeable ...... and I'm believing that many of you soccer pundits knew that from the day King George Weah and crew suqandered her chance to Japan/Korea 2002 and refused to get past the first round at Mali 2002.
Do you really think that the Lone Star will ever go to the ANC again? Be reminded, I am not eliminating her every chance, I just don't see it happening anytime soon. Some may blame it on the already-ended civil war, which is the usual case.
For now, just don't expect much from the Lone Star, from the management, coaching staff to the players. As a huge fan and supporter, I just have to do my part. I am also an analyst though .......
Weah Fan,
One thing you mentioned is PREPARATION! Better yet, you wrote, "Good Preparations." That's the key word.
Before you can secure a win in a match, that's exactly what you have to do .... and we don't do that. That game was HUGE and we should have earmarked it for a WIN by making before-hand arrangements a month or two earlier or even when the zonings and fixture came out. Instead, we waited till a week before naming the squad ..... worse of all, leaving veteran players out.
Many coaches just don't get it. You need a foundation for the younger stars. It's vital to use veterans that will nurture the young guns both physically and emotionally .... and in every way possible. Taking a group of guys (though soccer players) to play an away game against the Indomitable Lions is like feeding little sardines to a whale.
I am not erasing all of our chances, but we won't make it to ANC 2008, least likely to mention ANC 2010/WC 2010.
Player10 I did not dispute the fact that better preparation would have given us a much better outing but in all honestly, the game could have gone either way. The first easy goal allowed by Crayton coupled with the cheap red card on Gebro whom by the way was the best defender for Liberia caused the defeat. The officials were clearly against us thus they issued all kind of cards to our players and put the final nail on the coffin by ejecting Gebro when they realized that giving yellow cards could not affect our game rather forced our players to pile up the pressure on Cameroon. The Liberians were forced to deviate from their original 4-4-2 formation to 4-5-1 because 3 of our best defenders Jimmy Dixon, Fallah Johnson and Chris Gbandi did not travel to Cameroon due to injury, so we were left with no other options but to use midfielders as defenders. But guys rest assure, those defenders will be back in June and we’ll pay Cameroon back in Monrovia. Also from the way Equatorial Guinea is playing, I think they can also beat Cameroon in their home. So, this thing is not over until the fact lady sings.
Let me put a little positive spin this for you guys. My analysis is that Liberia will beat Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea in Monrovia and beat Rwanda away whom by the way can no longer qualify from the group in either first or second place.
I no it seem impossible but Liberia still have the advantage here. We have 2 home games left and one road game. The road game should be easy win, as Rwanda has nothing left to play for but pride. The group leaders E. Guinea and Cameroon have just one home games each left.
Game left:
For Liberia:
Liberia V. Cameroon
Liberia V. Equatorial Guinea
Rwanda V. Liberia
For Rwanda:
Rwanda V. Equatorial Guinea
Cameroon V. Rwanda
For Cameroon:
Equatorial Guinea V. Cameroon.
So the most like final scores can be.
Cameroon 12 points
Liberia 12 Points
Equatorial Guinea 9, 10 or 12 points.
Rwanda 0, 1 or 3 points.
So you see Liberia could end up as group runner up or even win the group. Like I said before have faith. It helps.
