Jericho Prefers Youngsters For Cameroon
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
Frank Jericho Nagbe has placed his trust in the younger Liberian players to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
The head coach of the Liberian national football team, Lone Star, stated that he needs a “real youth team that will work” when meeting Cameroon in March this year in Yaounde .
Coach Nagbe disclosed that he has 15 players abroad on mind and that they comprise mainly those he considers as youths.
He declined to reveal the full list of the players expected but pointed at George Gebro, Ben Teekloh, Anthony Laffor, Dulee Johnson, James Koko Lommell, Murphy Nagbe, Francis Grand Pa Doe and Chris Gbandi.
“I selected these players based on the system I intend to use, but my whole team is under my sleeve while I do enough investigations on the players.
“I talk to my players everyday and remind them because we are going to play as a team.
“The relationship I have with my players is cordial. I nurtured them, so, it is about time that they pay me back,” the Lone Star head coach explained.
He confirmed holding talks with United States-based striker McColm Konah Cephas, who now plays for the Virginia Beach Mariners.
According to Jericho , he has been monitoring the performances of the players he needs and that it was based on current form that they have been targeted for the pending match.
The Lone Star coach is expected to travel to Manchester , England along with the Vice President for Operations of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Adolph Lawrence later in February.
While in England , Jericho hopes to seek assistance for youth football and the LFA.
He anticipates using the trip to acquire some ideas from Manchester United Coach Alex Ferguson and as well watch some of the latter’s coaching sessions.
On his way back from the eight-day trip, Jericho has plans to visit few of the countries that he would select players from.
He disclosed that the squad to take on Cameroon would be a combination of 75 percent foreign-based and 25 percent local talents.
“I will surely get the support from the government to bring more players from abroad because when we met with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, she promised to give full support to the team.
“All my players will be sent for, rather than coming on their own to play for the national team.“This is a different coach and new ball game. I played the game and live all my life in football.
“I am going to Cameroon without fear or worry. I am only worried about whether my system will work the way I want it to be.”

I have no idea, but we will see about Makor.
We also need Jimmy Dixon (our best defender) and Dioh Williams, who scored in the last game against Rwanda in Monrovia. I would also like that Jericho includes Willis Forko, cos I heard some good stuff about this guy. I think he's got an American citizenship too, so we must not wait for too long and gamble.
If we really manage to call up all these players mentioned here and above, it would be extra thing for the Lone Star.
Let's pray!

Weah Fan, I also hope that Jericho call up Willis Forko, he has some good experience. Note that he play against Samuel Eto in defense when his MLS team played Barcelona in the USA. In that game he did very well. He even met head on with Eto at times. I hope he is invited ASAP because he has a lot of potential and I also think he is an American citizen.
On your other issue, I am certain that Jimmy Dixon and Dioh Williams will be invited. Note the article stated that the names mentioned were just some of the youngters he had in mind. Note he also said that he was in talks with Melvin Cephas. But I done think Melvin will be call up this time, maybe in future games.
However, I believe that in addition to the names mentioned, Kelvin Sewbe, Oliver Moker and Lewis Clayton will be invited. They are the back bone of the team, the most experience.
In addition to all of this, I hope while in England they have a talk with Collins John, I think he is still eligeable to play for Liberia. I remember he was call up by the Dutch National Team but did not play and since that time he have not been call up for the Dutch Senior National Team. I don't think he's in their plans anymore because he's not a stater with Fulham and not even playing regularly. He does not get along with the coach. I think he will work well for Liberia. He's not a good individual player, by that I mean he cannot create his own play very well or do not have good ball control. But, he is a scorer, an enforcer, he is always where the ball is. With Collins in the mixs with our strickers (Dioh Williams, Grandpa Doe and Anthony Laffor) we will be a force to recon with up front. This guy is young, big and strong.
I have not given up on Collin John yet.

Smartfootball,
I am afraid that Collins John is not eligible to play for us. As a matter of fact, I heard that he had played for the Dutch Senior side 3 times already!
You can read it here:

By the way, I say, let us just hope that the Lone Star will travel to England. I simply don't trust our LFA enough, they have spoken a lot of crap during the past 4 years, and every "plan" they had in mind, simply didn't work out. Don't need to remind all of you guys, you know the whole thing.
These claims, such as "The Lone Star MAY travel to Kuwait" or "The Lone Star travels to England" could be one of those good ol' ways for the LFA to protect itself from the fans and the media before the important Cameroon game. If none of these things happen, they will blame the Government.
But like i said, let us pray that it will be all done.
