Liberians on the move in Sweden

Liberia defender Jimmy Dixon has joined Swedish club Malmo FF

Liberia's Jimmy Dixon has joined Swedish premiership club Malmo FF but his compatriot Dulee Johnson is frustrated in a move away from AIK Solna.

Dixon joins Malmo on a three year contract from another Swedish club BK Hacken, who have recently been relegated.

"This is a dream realized. Malmo is a club with a promising future that I want to be a part of," the 25-year-old central defender said.

Malmo will be hoping that Dixon can bring some much needed stability to their defence that conceded 39 goals in 26 league matches last season and saw them finish 7th in the table.

Malmo director, Hasse Borg, is happy with the deal: "This is a player we have wanted for a long time. We are happy to have completed the deal."

Meanwhile, Dixon's compatriot, midfielder Dulee Johnson is still being frustrated in his desire to leave his Swedish club, AIK Solna.

Solna are attempting to extend Johnson's contract without his consent.

Earlier this year, the Liberian international joined AIK on a one year deal with an option to extend for a further two seasons.

The club maintain that they do not need Dulee's consent to extend the contract, a position which the player has rejected.

According to the Swedish media such one-sided contracts are illegal.

Guys, this is not bad news, although, someone could say that, because I know we heard that the likes of Arsenal and Ajax were interested in buying Jimmy Dixon. We may feel a little bit disappointed because of this move, but I am convinced that Jimmy will impress all the scouts who will watch him in the future at his new club Malmo.

He has been playing for BK Hacken for so many years, and it was a real time to move on and try something else. I am sure Jimmy will not stop here.

Dioh Williams could also be on the move pretty soon. Swedish clubs are certainly interested in him now, and I won't be suprised if he leaves Hacken as well. They are relegated, so the reporter said.

Liberians need to start thinking about the tougher leagues in Europe. Jimmy is 25 and in a few years he’ll be in his 30thes while other Africans players are playing for teams like Milan, Chelsea, Man U etc at age 17, 18 19.  Our players have too much potential to be settling for less.  While other West African players are making headlines in Europe, Liberians players are fighting to join the Cameroonian and Ivory Leagues.

It’s truly discouraging to see headlines like:
